Thank you for an amazing 2019
It has been a year of fun and new beginnings for the Friends of Shelby Park and Bottoms. Here is an update on our work in 2019.
In 2019 Friends of Shelby made its largest capital investment in the parks to date with over $27,000 contributed toward the new playground at the Historic Cornelia Fort Airport. In partnership with Metro Parks, Friends helped to fund this unique playground, which opened in October and has already brought dozens of new families to the park.
This investment would not be possible without your support!
Cornelia Pickin' Parties
In 2019 Friends hosted the 5th season of the Cornelia Fort Pickin' Parties. This fun, family friendly concert series drew more fans than ever this year with proceeds from the events going right back into the parks.
Friends of Shelby Hires First Executive Director
Rebecca Ratz has come on board as Friends' first Executive Director and first employee! She will be working with park stakeholders, Metro Parks and the community on improvements and advocacy efforts in Shelby Park and Shelby Bottoms. Following seven years with the Metro Parks Planning and Facilities Development Division, Rebecca, an East Nashville resident, is excited to dedicate herself to supporting the Park and Bottoms.
Come meet Rebecca at the January Bird Friendly Coffee at the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center.
