Shelby Bottoms Bridge Update
After months of planning and preparation Pedestrian Bridge #5 in Shelby Bottoms has been set in its new location.
 
Nature Watch
Annual bush hogging is underway near the Shelby Bottoms observation deck and the newly open field make great hunting ground for American Kestrel and other birds of prey.

New Wayfinding Signs
Friends of Shelby partnered with Metro Parks to update the maps at trail intersections in Shelby Bottoms. In all, Parks Maintenance installed 25 new signs so visitors can find their way.

Volunteering
January Cleanup
On January 12 neighbors and friends worked to beautify the area around the Shelby Community Center. Teams planted tree saplings, mulched, cleared trails and washed the playground. Thanks to everyone who participated

In 2020 Friends of Shelby will host a public volunteer event in the park every month. Sign up online to stay up to date on project dates and registration information.

The Shelby Community Center winter schedule is available now. Activities include Adult Soccer and Friday Night Family Skate Night. 
Shelby Nature Center
The Shelby Nature Center winter schedule is also available now. Don't miss Bird Friendly Coffee and Mr. Bond's Science Guy the first Saturday of each month.

Vinny Links and First Tee
The Vinny Links pro shop and driving range will reopen on February 3rd. The course will reopen March 1st.
Registration for First Tee spring programs opens January 27 with classes starting March 3. www.thefirstteetennessee.org
