Park Updates

Phase Three Reopening

Phase 3 of the city's reopening plan brings a lot of activity back to Shelby Park and Bottoms, including the reopening of playgrounds, picnic shelters, and the dog park. Find all the details on the Metro Parks Website.

While the park is opening up, please remember that this pandemic is not over. Please continue to keep your distance from others, stay home if sick and wash/sanitize hands regularly.

Shelby Community Center Virtual Summer

Metro Parks is hosting a virtual summer enrichment program. Families can still pick up breakfast and lunch for the kiddos each day, along with a packet of fun activities.

Check out the flyer for more information and register online.

Lake Loop Bridge Groundbreaking

Work continues on the Davidson St and Shelby Park Drive vehicular bridges. On July 6, at 9 am, join Bell & Associates Construction and Friends of Shelby for the groundbreaking of the Sevier Lake Loop bridge, the first component of the Complete The Loop project!

Shelby Golf Course

While folks have been enjoying walking the golf course during its temporary closure, please remember to treat it well.

  • Stay off the greens. These areas are especially fragile while the irrigation is not working. Areas with sand are being reseeded and should be left alone.
  • Pick up the poop. Please remember to take your dog bags with you and dispose of them in the proper receptacle.

Over the past few weeks, volunteers have helped in the park in many ways. Planting and mulching the beds by the lake, cleaning up on the golf course, and weeding and watering the flowers at the Lillian entrance.

Thanks to everyone!

Golf Course Cleanup Saturday

This Saturday join us as we continue to clean up tornado debris on the Shelby Golf Course. This is a great opportunity for families with younger kids. We're working in shifts to keep people distanced so come pitch in!

Hot Chicken Festival Supports Friends of Shelby

The 2020 Music City Hot Chicken Festival will be a COVID-aware,
take out, coop-side Festival that will take place at Hot Chicken
restaurants across the Nashville area, rather than the typical East Park
location, but as always the festival proceeds go to support Shelby Park and Bottoms.

This year our partners at Yazoo have created a special “Nashville Hot Chicken Coalition Ale”, a tart gose specifically brewed to complement Nashville’s hottest chicken. Order to go, delivery, or get it at the brewery on the 4th!
