JOIN THE YOUNG FRIENDS OF SHELBY

Young Friends of Shelby (YFS) is a new group for park lovers aged 25-39 who want to connect, give back, and have a little fun along the way. Whether you're up for a volunteer day, a group hike, or just grabbing a drink after work, YFS is a chance to meet new people and support the place we all love—Shelby Park & Bottoms.

What to expect:

  • Quarterly social meetups like happy hours, hikes, and casual get-togethers

  • Volunteer outings to help keep Shelby Park at its best

  • Behind-the-scenes tours and special events

  • A low-key, fun way to give back and grow your local network

What we ask:

To join in on the fun, we ask that YFS participants consider becoming a member of Friends of Shelby. Your contributions will support our efforts to make Shelby Park & Bottoms the friendliest, best loved, and most accessible park in town!

We’re just getting started—and we’d love for you to be part of it!

Let’s keep in touch!

October 11 - YFS Volunteer Day: Wildflower Seed Harvesting

Join Young Friends of Shelby for a fall volunteer morning at Shelby Bottoms! We’ll be harvesting wildflower seeds — including the beloved tickseed sunflower — on Saturday, October 11 from 9–11 AM. This hands-on project helps the park staff collect and preserve native wildflower seeds for future plantings.

No experience needed — just bring yourself (and a friend if you’d like). Tools and instructions will be provided.

Date/Time: Saturday, October 11 | 9–11 AM
Location: Shelby Bottoms (meeting details provided after sign-up)
